Wii Fit gets $89.99 price tag, Nintendo World store pre-order bonus (Update)
Posted by: in Wii NewsHey Flabby McFlabtown! Nintendo have announced details for this Summer’s launch of their new interactive fitness game, Wii Fit! The game will ship bundled with the Wii Balance Board peripheral, and will be available at the Nintendo World store in New York City starting on May 19 for $89.99.
Nintendo have also revealed a special pre-order incentive program as well, offering the first 1,000 consumers who put down a $5 deposit a limited edition Wii Fit t-shirt. This one-of-a-thousand shirt features the image and reproduced autograph of Shigeru Miyamoto, so it’s sure to be quite the collector’s item. And what do you do when you lose all of that weight playing Wii Fit and the shirt no longer fits you? Use it as a dust rag.
It should be noted that the press release (found after the jump) makes no mention of Wii Fit appearing at retail other than the Nintendo World store. I’m also no longer seeing a listing for it at GameStop.com, so my suspicions have been aroused. I’ve contacted Nintendo for clarification, so in the meantime, keep trying to do those one-handed push-ups in preparation of the game’s release.
[Update: According to Nintendo Wii Fit will indeed be available everywhere Wii products are sold. The pre-order bonus, however, will be exclusive to the Nintendo World store. The listing for Wii Fit has been added to GameStop.com (as well as other retaliers), and confirms that the game will be available on the May 22, three days after its Nintendo World store launch.]
