As you may have heard, THQ hired porno star Tera Patrick as a special producer on Saints Row 2. Or in other words, she’s just going to be promoting the game while slowly shedding off her clothes while reading from cue cards.
The first developer diary has Tera talking about certain aspects of the game like the character customization. Funny, as the number one horn dog around these here parts, I was more interested in the scenes with the different outfits for the characters. You can play Saints Row 2 while wearing a Hot Dog suit!
Check out the kind of NSFW video after the jump or just look up naked photos of Tera Patrick on Google Image Search to avoid the tease. Whatever tickles your fancy.
[Thanks, power-glove!]

During its quarterly earnings conference call, EA announced that its first-person romp through the popular Command & Conquer universe wouldn’t be released until the company’s fiscal year 2010. Converting that information into a format your calendar will superior understand: Don’t expect Tiberium to arrive before April 2009. We anticipate this delay from the game’s previous Fall 2008 release date will superior allow the designers to craft exciting weapons, insert formidable enemies and carefully remove any elements which could remind us of the last time someone tried to make a C&C FPS.

1UP is reporting that Tetris Online, Inc. has announced that Tetris Celebration will be hitting WiiWare this fall.
The game is said to include 18 different modes, local multiplayer, and six-player on the internet battles. As if it makes any difference, it appears as if your Miis can also be used to represent yourself on the internet. This will be the most wild and crazy celebration yet, with multiple control schemes, including support for the Wii Balance Board. No idea how that’s going to work out, but if I can tone my abs while trying to nail some T-spins, I’m all for it.
Now I’m not saying I’m the ideal Tetris player on the block, but … OK, I’m freakin’ great. I have fond memories of trampling Destructoid’s own Dale North in a few games of Tetris DS when we first met in Tokyo for the Tokyo Game Show last year. Sorry about that, Dale. Maybe you can get your revenge later this year when the game hits WiiWare.
You can find some screens over at 1UP.

Naughty Dog’s Richard Lemarchand sees big changes on the horizon for the PlayStation Network that will vault the service over Microsoft’s Xbox Live. In an interview with IGN, Lemarchand said, “there’s going to be other things coming down the pipe that’s going to give PSN as a whole a competitive advantage.” Chances are, he wasn’t referring to the latest update to the PS3 firmware.
When pressed to explain what the big changes will be, Lemarchand hinted that it would revolve around connectivity outside of downloading games and showing off Trophies.
…as a games designer I’m very excited about net connectivity. Sony is really looking to expand games as culture in the same way that pop music, literature and fine art are culture. When you couple that with ubiquitous computing, with connectivity, with locative technology like GPS and cellphones, all of that feeds into social networks and the tremendous interest and power of Facebook, I think those kinds of things are going to be completely transformative for game design.
At this point, I am thoroughly confused as to what these amazing new features could be other than social networking. Sure, I would love to reveal my GPS position on a Facebook application, but I’m not ready to say that a feature like that would kill what Microsoft has going on. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what these new crazy features are going to give us.

If you haven’t turned your PS3 lately, go ahead. Firmware update 2.42 is now available for mass consumption. There is quite an extensive list of features that were added to the service this morning including the ability to pre-register for the Home beta, an enhanced sound effect for Trophies, and a free copy of LocoRoco for next million people who download the update. Also, Sony added a new collaboration device like Folding@home that will link up your PS3 to geological centers in the US to help predict and prevent future earthquakes.
Actually, the update does very little. According to PlayStationBlog, the “update improves the playback quality of some PLAYSTATION 3 and PlayStation format software.” There have been reports that it causes Trophies to load faster, but Sony is dismissing those claims by tossing out the above sentence. So, download at your leisure and enjoy the enhanced playback quality!

I’m not a big fan of the series, but as far as I’ve been able to tell, the Armored Core series has always been about using big mechs to blow things up. The above screenshot for Ubisoft’s just-announced Armored Core For Answer for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 seems to confirm my suspicions.
The From Software developed title with the curious name will be introducing gigantic boss battles for the first time in the series, allowing players to pilot their mechs into gigantic battle stations to destroy them from the inside out. From Answer will also feature more than 30 cooperative mission which can be played online, as well as an eight-player multiplayer game with more than 80 battlefields.
I’ve tried to play the games a few times, and always walked away scratching my head by what I felt were complicated controls; From Answer is said to feature two control schemes, one re-worked for beginners. I’m a bit slow, I suppose, and when the game ships this September, maybe it’ll be the first Armored Core game I can wrap my tiny brain around.
Press release and more game details (including some story about a rebel resistance and a polluted planet) after the jump.

Yesterday’s news that Activision Blizzard was only holding onto a select few Vivendi/Sierra properties going forward didn’t look good for those awaiting the seemingly triumphant return of Ghostbusters. We contacted Sierra about the game’s absence from Blizzavision’s “to keep” list, and whether stated omission spelled doom for the Ecto-1 crew. Good news, everyone: the game’s not giving up the ghost.
A spokesperson for Sierra confirmed that, “First and foremost, the game is totally not canceled.” But does it have a publisher? “[Sierra] is reviewing its options regarding those titles that it won’t be publishing,” we were told.
While not explicitly stated, it definitely sounds like Sierra has begun the process of shopping its remaining titles around to other publishers. These include Double Fine’s hotly anticipated heavy metal adventure Br

The paved, petulant path past purgatory has been politely pushed to September. Speaking to Shacknews, Gearbox president Randy Pitchford said Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway will miss its August 26 release date.
A precise date is as-of-yet undecided, but Pitchford noted that “late September is the anniversary of Operation Market Garden, so I think it would be really poetic if the game launched on the anniversary.” Market Garden serves as a basis for Hell’s Highway and occured September 17 to 25, 1944. Online retailers Gamestop and Amazon are listing the game’s release for September 23.

Really, anyone old enough to remember Square’s 1997 PlayStation debut with Final Fantasy VII - a franchise that had only existed on Nintendo platforms - shouldn’t have been that shocked to see Square president Yoichi Wada sneak back onto the stage during Microsoft’s E3 press conference to announce “one more thing”: Final Fantasy XIII would be multi-platform.
Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, Wada stated, “We always think about the territory and hardware for titles, and I just want to make sure that we’re neutral about dealing with companies.” Though he conceded that “in Japan … the Xbox 360 isn’t really that strong yet” he acknowledged that in “North America Microsoft is doing very well with its hardware.” Sounds about right to us.
Throw in escalating development costs, and you’ve got a no-brainer. Wada sums it up: “We’re now in the age of the multi-platform … in order to offer our product to the vast majority of gamers we need to deal with multiple companies and platforms.” Multiplatform third-party games are increasingly the norm; however, with certain “now-gen” Square Enix titles remaining selectively exclusive (think Infinite Undiscovery), we’re not quite ready to call it for Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
