Activision has finally decided to spill the entire track listing for its upcoming Guitar Hero Smash Hits, one of the five “Hero” games scheduled for the remainder of 2009.
Taking the “best” songs from the previous versions of the Guitar Hero series, Smash Hits has an astonishing soundtrack. As the name implies, they’re almost entirely “smash hits,” with few exceptions. It’s also important to note that all of the tracks are masters, and in some cases live tracks. As far as the game is concerned, it brings some of the songs to the full band experience for the first time. It’s what Activision is calling “innovation,” which is questionable.
I had a opportunity to try out a demo of the game a few days ago, and despite the limited selection of songs (the full track list wasn’t playable), was impressed by what I heard. Gameplay wise, you can anticipate the same look, feel, and features of Guitar Hero World Tour, along with the tiny tweaks found in Guitar Hero Metallica.
Guitar Hero Smash Hits is scheduled to his PlayStation 3, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii on June 16.
