We’ve definitely seen some of our favorite gizmos turned into jewelry in the past, and while thiakosia’s polymer clay-based Wiimote pieces aren’t nearly as tasty as some other homemade controllers we’ve seen, they’d look mighty geektastic hanging from your lobes. The artist claims to use Sculpey clay along with a single coat of satin glaze finish to construct each of the items, and so far, there’s Wiimote-based cellphone charms, keychains and earrings for you to pick up. Best of all, these oh-so-cute items aren’t outrageously priced, ranging from just $6.50 to $15 before shipping. With that pesky FCC spilling the beans this week on the DGL-4500, D-Link was forced to show it off at tonight’s Showstoppers event in NY before it was fully ready for prime time. They didn’t have any extra info on the device, and they tucked away a similar Xtreme N router clad in white when we walked up, but at least we got to check out the pretty OLED and run through a few menu options. We also spotted that DUB-9240 wireless USB kit D-Link announced in July, which we found pleasingly minimal.

Yeah, we’ve seen this puppy around before, but never gotten this close. This here’s the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero III’s Les Paul, complete with green-glowing Xbox 360 Guide button and wirelessness. Big ups to Red Octane for the extra fret board stylings and refined look, but we’d to look forward to playing with this one come October if they wired up a cardboard box to do the honors.

Barely a month after showing off its Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition, AMD is apparently hoping to rope in a few more followers with a lower-priced CPU in the same family. This processor reportedly hums along at 2.6GHz, is built around 65-nanometer technology, boasts 1MB of L2 cache and will play nice with the firm’s “580x or upcoming 700-series chipsets.” ‘Course, enthusiasts will love the “customizable clock multiplier for tunable performance,” and word on the street has these new chips “available to channel partners” for just $136 apiece in groups of 1,000.

Having just denied the existence of a low cost, entry level PS3, we weren’t expecting to find a new PS3 model from Sony parked in the FCC exhibits list this morning. That’s right, a new PlayStation 3 model CECHG01 was just unearthed. The juiciest of documents are all withheld upon Sony’s request for confidentiality. However, we did manage to scrape up a few details: Bluetooth 2.0+EDR; 802.11b/g WiFi; a 3.2GHz CPU clock speed just like other PS3s; 66MHz ATA, 133MHz ATA, 33MHz PCI and 750MHz SATA1; and a bevy of ports including USB, HDMI, and Ethernet. At least that what it looks like after combing through the data. Nothing new, eh? So the reason for the new model number is likely the result of a hard disk change given Sony’s preference for unique models reflecting changes in storage. However, for all we know that could be an increase and not a decrease in capacity so we’ll all have to hold tight for now and watch this unfold.

For those keeping a close eye on the pricing drama surrounding Sony’s PlayStation 3, you’ve no doubt heard the whispers suggesting that the firm may slash the price of its (comparatively) expensive console to better compete with those other guys. Apparently, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has informed GamesIndustry that the recent talk of such cuts — particularly the ones pointing to a pared-down £299 ($602) model in the UK — is nothing more than “rumor and speculation.” ‘Course, Sony has been known to give out those non-denial denials a time or two before, so we wouldn’t be floored to see a few pounds shaved off in the not-too-distant future.

We’ve certainly seen PlayStation 3s used in academia before, but a “significant gift” by IBM to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County is enabling the institution to further develop its Multicore Computational Center. The facility now utilizes 32 Cell processors, and researchers at the lab are getting set to “develop applications” to harness all that power. Reportedly, the supercomputer will dabble in “visualization and computer modeling applications for aerospace / defense, financial services, healthcare / life sciences industries and weather.” Hit the link below for a video report.

Toshiba looks to be doing its best to make it’s high-end X200 series laptops even more attractive to gamers, with its latest X205 models sporting SLI graphics courtesy of NVIDIA, among other upgrades. That desirable option is available in both the X205-SLI1 and X205-SLI3 models, each of which pack dual NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT GPUs, with a combined 512MB of dedicated video RAM. Otherwise, you can expect standard HD DVD drives on both models, with a 2.0GHz T7250 Core 2 Duo processor on the SLI1 and a speedier 2.2GHz T7500 on the SLI3. Both models also pack 17-inch widescreen displays, although the SLI3 ups the resolution to 1680 x 1050, as opposed to the standard 1440 x 900 on the SLI1; the former model also comes bundled with a USB HDTV tuner. From the looks of it, you can get your hands on either one now, with the SLI1 setting you back an even $2,000, and the SLI3 running $2,400.
