Resident Evil 5 is still a videogame, has new screens to prove it screenshot

We can confirm that Resident Evil 5 is still indeed very much a videogame. We have the ability to also confirm that it continues to look totally stunning. In this new batch of screens, you can see some devil dogs, a dude with a bag on his head and a bit of vehicular action. Sold!

Resident Evil 5 has almost become part of the furniture when it comes to unreleased stuff. We all know it’s there, patiently waiting for launch, and we’ve grown comfortable with the fact. It will be a brave new world when the game finally comes out. Whatever will we do with all these screenshots?

Midway likes to send us a lot of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe videos. Like, an absolute spunkload of them. This latest is part of the game’s “Ultimate Mash Ups” series, which aren’t really all that ultimate. In the above video, you get to see Lex Luthor take on Jax while The Joker and Kano duke it out.

Stay tuned for another ten million MK vs. DC videos.

Three-minute-long campaign confirmed! screenshot

Whenever a developer starts espousing the fact that its game is about quality and not length, you can guarantee that the game will not be long. Sadly, the quality part of the conversation doesn’t carry with it the same assurances. This is how our industry works.

inFamous developer Sucker Punch is doing some prep work ahead of the game’s release, making sure we’re all aware that this open world game will be far from a drawn out affair.

“Look at God of War – it is an excellent game, an instant classic, and it’s only like seven hours long,” claims creative director Nate Fox. “GTA IV is 30 hours long, and people wanted more? That just tells you how excellent that game is. It seems to me that it’s not about length, but about quality. And because I love both of those games, I hope that developers never try to shoot for a long game, but instead for the most fun they can pack onto the disc - at any length. That’s what we’re doing for inFamous.”

Yeah … it is now confirmed that inFamous is short, and not confirmed that inFamous is high quality. This is how our industry works.

Alone in the Dark: Inferno, the re-worked version of Atari’s survival horror, er … horror, is coming to the PlayStation 3 on November 19. Not only is it supposedly “better” on Sony’s console (due to more polish and heavy tweaks), but it’ll make you get up dance, too.

Far Cry 2 sells a million in three weeks, proceeds not going to malaria research screenshot

Today, Ubisoft announced Far Cry 2 has sold one million units in a mere three weeks since hitting retailers worldwide. This marks a monumental accomplishment and it deserves to be celebrated with candy, cake, confetti, and prostitutes. I wasn’t able to ask Ubisoft Montreal (the game’s developer) about a celebration or prostitutes, but it doesn’t stop me from saying it needs to happen.

In terms of Far Cry 2 deserving the landmark sales, I believe it does. When I played it for review I found it to be a great mix of action and exploration. It also has quite the multiplayer component, which is being overlooked right now because of other behemoth titles like Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet sporting larger or more interactive experiences.

What do you guys consider FarCry 2? If you didn’t get it quite yet, do you think you will at some point or will the rest of the holiday releases dominate your time and money?

WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 (Xbox 360, PS3) screenshot

In 1984, Stevie Wonder wrote the classic ballad “I Just Called To State I Love You” for the film The Woman in Red. In the song, Wonder sings of a world void of life’s little joys, with lyrics like “No autumn breeze/No falling leaves/No even time for birds to fly to southern skies/No libra sun/No Halloween/No giving thanks to all the Christmas joy you bring.”

If THQ were to commission Wonder to write the song for their yearly wrestling series, Smackdown vs. Raw, it might go something like this:

Left 4 Dead not coming to the PlayStation 3, guaranteed this time! screenshot

Just in case you haven’t heard, Valve’s long-awaited zombie FPS Left 4 Dead isn’t coming to the PlayStation 3. Ain’t no way, no how. Valve’s Chet Faliszek has finally put paid to the rumor that L4D is coming to the PS3 with his definitive statement that’ll put a stop to the discussion once and for all.

“Many people state that they heard rumors that Left 4 Dead is coming to PS3, however despite telling them this isn’t true they still don’t believe us, what more can we say than it is not,” said Chet.

Well, that’s that then. I am sure we’ll never, ever, ever, ever hear about L4D on the PS3 again. After all, once a story is denied, that story goes away until there’s a real development. Wait …

A brand new Godfather II trailer has arrived and it shows off some of the ways players will create long lasting business relationships. Watch as the Don Dominick offers a firm handshake to one of his business contacts. Dominick even blows off some dust from his contacts head as friendly gesture. Yep, Godfather II will be the perfect learning tool for kids who want to make it in the business world.

I saw Godfather II a few months back (while on a yacht) and was pretty impressed with the game. The new Don’s View element offers a whole new way to play on top of the traditional sandbox gameplay.

If you’re interested in more Godfather II stuff, go join the Inner Circle over on the official Web site. There you will find developer diaries, developer blogs, contests and plenty more. Anyone looking forward to the game?

You always need an ice level, and Sonic Unleashed delivers. This latest trailer shows off the Holaska stage, which looks all pretty and probably has the best music so far. The game is due out this month, but for some reason Sega has still kept its mouth shut on a firm release date, continuing merely to say “The Holiday.”

These trailers are fun and all, but I’m ready to play the full game. Give me a release date, Sega! I want to see if my trust has once again been misplaced, or if Sonic can prove the cynics wrong.

World at War review 10/10, 'better' than COD 4 screenshot

We get it, we get it — you’re skeptical about Call of Duty: World at War because it’s developed by Treyarch, those “villains” who “ruined” Call of Duty 3. Surprise — it’s good! According to the first review in European magazine PSW, not only is it good, but it’s better than Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
