A while back, we asked you guys to take time out of your busy schedules to create a Mushroom Men diorama. Why? To win some extremely cool prizes, including a custom Mushroom Men bass guitar signed by the legendary Les Claypool.
A ton of astonishing entries flooded our inbox, and it was tough deciding on who to choose. But somehow we were able to narrow it down to four finalists, as decided by the Destructoid staff and the folks at Red Fly Studio, the developer of Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars (Wii) and Mushroom Men: Rise of the Fungi (Nintendo DS). Congratulations to Dexter345, Nintendoll, Onlypony, and Trish for making the final cut!
Now, it’s time for the Destructoid community to help us decide by voting for their favorites; to help make your decision, images of the dioramas have been included in the gallery. We’ll be accepting votes until October 26 at 11:59 PM EDT, at which point we’ll count up the totals and announce the top three the very next day.

Ever felt burned by a third party peripheral? At least one particular player has, having suffered injuries thanks to the Rage Wireless Guitar Controller, designed for use with the Wii. After inflicting chemical burns on this poor gamer, the controller is being recalled.
Performance Designed Products Inc is recalling 57,000 units, which are made for use with the Wii version of Guitar Hero. Thanks to a manufacturing fault, improperly installed batteries are apt to leaking, turning the plastic toy guitar into a kind of musical Xenomorph.
The acid dribbling guitars are colored blue or white and would have been bought between the months of June and September of this year. If you fear you may have picked one of these items up, you can either go to www.pdp.com for a refund, or jam the batteries in wrong and let a friend play with it. Hilarity is sure to prevail!

D3Publisher has announced that it will be bringing the videogame adaptation of Coraline to the Wii, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation 2.
Based on a Neil Gaiman novel of the same name, Coraline finds a little girl stumbling upon the Other World, a strange, alternate version of her life. The animated film is being directed by Harry Selick, ideal known for his directorial work on Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Characters will be voiced by Dakota Fanning, Terri Hatcher, and Keith David, among others; no word on whether or not their voices will appear in the D3 titles.

Next Monday, Mega Man 9 will be graced with the last of its currently announced DLC. For those who thought the game was too simple, two new difficulty levels will be made available for 100 Wii points each. Perhaps more enticing is the Special Stage that will go on sale for the same price. This all new stage will not only be “special”, but according to a new interview with the games producer Hironobu Takeshita, the stage will have it’s own boss as well.
Many were hoping this boss would be Mega Man’s long time rival Bass, or maybe his best-friend/worst-enemy Zero, but instead, it’s the fake cop robot who falsely arrested Dr Wright/Light at the beginning of the game. At least, that’s why I’m guessing he’s called Fake Man. Trust me, I’d love this news to be fake. But if not, if Fake Man really is the star of “Special Stage”, not only will a whole lot of Mega Man fans will be passing on this DLC, but we’ll also have one more reason to link the term “special” with the term “retarded”.

The game’s not even out yet and Actvision are already trying to bring it hard; this day they’ve announced that Oasis’ new record, Dig Out Your Soul, will be available as downloadable content for Guitar Hero World Tour.
On November 6, the “Oasis Track Pack” will be available and will contain “Bag it Up,” “Waiting for the Rapture,” and the first single “The Shock of the Lightning.” In addition to the pack, the tracks will be available as single downloads, yet no pricing has been announcd for the individual songs or the pack. The entirety of Dig Out Your Soul will be available sometime in 2009, as a pack or as individual singles.
This is good news for Oasis fans, to be sure, but the decision to release three tracks now and the rest later is a bit confusing. While pricing hasn’t been revealed, one would hope that buying a pack would save you a few bucks; if you buy three tracks this year, it sounds like you’d have to buy the other eight of the album’s 11 tracks individually.
Whatever the case, it’s great to see the early push for DLC in World Tour. Because at the end of the day, it’s the song library that will ultimately make the game, and this looks like a good start.

I make the ideal headlines in the whole of the Blogocube.
Anyway, here are ten screenshots of Wii fighting game spin-off Castlevania Judgment. As far as Wii games go, this one isn’t looking too visually shabby. A lot of developers seem to think that Wii games give them an excuse for shoddy graphics, so it’s good to see Konami putting some actual effort in.

Xbox 360 owners have been playing Rock Band 2 for about a month now, and today MTV Games and Harmonix are finally officially revealing the release dates (sort of) for other consoles.
PlayStation 3 owners can pick up the game this Sunday, October 19, and should blow up Harmonix’s office phones to thank them for the short notice. The Wii and PlayStation 2 versions of the game will be available in December; no specific date has been revealed.

It’s hard for me to overstate how much I really enjoyed SouthPeak’s Roogoo on Xbox LIVE Arcade (the game was also available on the PC). Cute and addictive, the frantic shape-dropping action of Roogoo made me happy.
Now, it’s coming to the Wii and Nintendo DS, and we have the new screens the prove it. While it seems like the general mechanics are the same — there’s a shape, put it the hole that looks like that shape — SouthPeak is adding new features to try to make the games worth your while. Bosses, like “The Giant Squid,” have been added to the Nintendo DS version, for instance. You’ll also be able to link up the DS and Wii to unlock additional levels in both versions of the game.

It’s an interesting idea, I suppose. In keeping with Sonic’s new Werehog persona, Sega is releasing new game details every full moon, as part of the Sonic Unleashed “World Tour.”
Among the gameplay details is the “quick step” which grants Sonic to dash from left to right without slowing his speed. This is seen in trailers, where prompted shoulder button presses get Sonic through lengthy corridors. Sonic can also drift, just like in a racing game. Finally, there’s the “Sonic boost.” When you collect enough rings, you will be able to boost Sonic to speeds of up to 300 in-game miles per hour, apparently the fastest he’s ever gone.
You can hit the jump for the full update, including story and level details. Also, be sure to read our hands-on with the game, where I revealed that Sonic Unleashed is actually not bad at all. I’m really looking forward to Sonic Unleashed’s release, and I’m very, very happy to state that.
